Selma Dabbagh

Selma Dabbagh is a British Palestinian lawyer and writer of fiction. Her first novel, Out of It, (Bloomsbury, 2011) set between Gaza, London and the Gulf was listed as a Guardian Book of the Year, won the Premio Opera in Spoleto in 2019. She has also written short stories that have been published by Granta, Saqi and Wasafiri. She is a regular contributor to The Electronic Intifada on Palestinian arts and culture. Her radio play, The Brick (2014, Radio 4) was nominated for an Imison Award. In 2018, her second radio play Sleep It Off, Dr. Schott was aired by WDR in Germany. Selma has also contributed to productions for theatre, TV and film. She recently edited the anthology, We Wrote In Symbols, Love and Lust by Arab Women Writers (Saqi, 2021). She is on the Advisory Boards for the Britain Palestine Media Centre and the Bristol Palestine Film Festival. 
Her work as a lawyer is in the field of human rights, international criminal law, with a specialisation in work involving Palestinians.
